Hankerings

Do you ever get in a specific food kind of mood? You know that feeling when there's just only one thing that will satisfy a craving that you might have, that you didn't even know that you had until that's all that's on your mind. That sort of happened to me this afternoon. My granddaughter came over this morning following me eating at the restaurant for breakfast. She didn't meet at the restaurant her dad and I met for breakfast. It was just us. We had a good conversation and enjoy the time that we had together. But Jasmine was focused on fixing the door or changing the decorations on the door for the next month or holiday or whatever. She didn't really want to do breakfast as much as she just wanted to do the door and get it done. She's in the middle of major studies right now with summer school a couple of classes that are kind of hardcore science oriented classes so she's studying every single minute she can get. I was really quite surprised that she was so funny coming over and changing my door out for the new season.

This afternoon I got kind of a second wind and after it's been left in the apartment was pretty clean I started to get in the hankering for an apple pie. It's been a while since I've done the pie and it's sort of a real challenge for me because you have to stick the pie into the preheated oven which is at 200°. The oven is hot because you wanted to preheat it so I also have to deal with a gush of heat coming out of the oven triggering a fire alarm. Luckily today I did not have to deal with overactive fire alarm. So I went to the market across the street from where I live. Our Market has a very limited supply of frozen fries I was kind of surprised. They're all a high end frozen food operation. The price are on sale for $7.88. That still seems a bit High but I purchased the confession anyway- - I had a hankering. I don't know what I was thinking of when I grabbed the pie but after I got the pie home and started looking at it I realized I'd made a mistake. The part that I got I can't remember what it's called right now but it was Apple but it didn't have any pie crust on top they had this stuff that you sprinkled onto the pie itself after it was cooked and then cook the whole shebang again for 10 minutes. I still can remember that this house operation this store had two or three different kinds of pies to choose from no longer is that the case. After a quick stop at the Dollar Store for some box milk I came straight home. I quickly drop the box of the pie in it when I was trying to make sure the oven was cleaned out sufficient to hold a pie. I have started using the Pie as a utility closet or a closet for frying pans and all kinds of paraphernalia for cooking. Anyway, I eventually was able to get the pie up off the floor and onto the cooking box my brother made. It was a challenge but I got everything into the heated stove I was really surprised that's able to pull that off. I cook the pie for 60 minutes like I was told then opened up the oven scatter the stuff that you sprinkle on top and put it back in for another 10 minutes. Like I said this was not what I thought that I had gotten I want to just the old time pie you know apple pie with crusty top that's very tasty when you eat it with the pie itself. The Pie special name but I can't think of it right now but it's a fancy Dancy pie more than I expected and more than I do. I finally got it out of the oven after cool down for about an hour but it cool down for another hour before I cut out a piece. I couldn't find my pie device anywhere. You know that handheld instrument that looks like a triangle with a attachment on top that you used to scoot the pie from hot surfaces back to the countertop or table. I was proud of myself I cook the pie without anything even let it sit for the 2 hours afterwards it's cool down that it could be handled safely I just had the first piece out of the pie. I would much rather have had the pie with the pie crust on top but that didn't happen but I enjoyed the pie that I did have and now I just have to pace myself not to each not to eat too much at one time. The Pirates great as was the dinner. I watched part of a Marvel movie as I finished the regular meal. The pie was wonderful
