It's that time of year when I really notice that the hours of daylight are quite long. When you have long hours of daylight mixed with above average temperatures I get somewhat excited. These are the days that I live for just hot summer days and today is quite a windy day because a low pressure systems coming in. There's something about a Summer Wind that I just love. We used to have this clothes line out back of our house when we lived on the farm in South Boise. It was a four-wire clothesline and sometimes my Mom would actually fill up all of the lines with wash. What's important in that on days like today there would be billowing sheets shirts and cut offs and shorts and all kinds of other pieces of clothing that were put out right after the washing machines finish the last cycle. In less than a half an hour they would all be dry, every article of clothing. It would be that hot kind of dry that you get pulling things out of the dryer especially in the winter time when you just push the heated garment or cloth into your face and you feel the warmth permeate your face. I'm wearing shoes today usually though this time of year I hardly ever wear shoes especially growing up. After a certain point in the summer shoes came off at least for wearing around the farm. I wore shoes only doing my chores and going to church when I had to actually work clothes. Other than that I was barefoot John.
The temperature moves past 90° today and that is the second or third day in the last couple that we've had temperature about 90 °. Why that's important to me is that it reminds me of the days in Boise when I was growing up that once you got this much heat for this period of time you know that the cold water that's irrigation canal that we swam in but finally be warm enough to tolerate for an extended period of time. In the summer we usually had time to ourselves once we got whatever chores and projects my dad would have us do completed or complete as much as we were going to do them. That would mean hanging out at the bridge where we would swim probably from 1:00 to 4:00 and try to be home before my dad got there from work and make it look like we have been doing a lot more work then we did. I don't know how moral istic this was it's just how we lived Our Lives at least How I Live mine. I've often felt that my particular lifestyle is different than most people's. I guess that's good a little bit intimidating. But acceptable to me and I guess that's what matters most in my life at any given time. I do keep a close eye out to make sure that I'm following Norms complete enough that I don't look too far out of control. This evening I'm just enjoying the hot Breeze and memories of days gone by…
