Lunching with Dave

I had lunch today with my oldest friends here in Salt Lake. He's one of the first guys I met when I started getting involved with the private non-profit industry that Services housing needs of folks with disabilities another low income folks. Dave worked for an organization called assist Incorporated. Assistant still out there as you all know I serve on its board and we meet almost every Tuesday. Dave retired the number of years ago and as things go we lost contact with each other. Not so much contact but just didn't seem to have a reason or time to get together which is a dirty shame because we have a lot of stuff that we enjoy in common. Not too long ago maybe a year I made a commitment to myself that I would contact Dave and set up on the appointment to meet even if it's just for lunch or something we were able to pull that off today. I didn't get rained on today hn but it was a bit chilly I thought about even taking the blanket to wrap around my legs so when I got out in the atmosphere it didn't seem as cold as I thought it would be her that it looked like from my window. The trip down to the restaurant is just half a block from where I live but it's on the other side of the street so I have to go to the end of the block cross over and there I am at the Dee's restaurant.

I was truly excited at concept of having lunch with David and was even more encouraged when I rolled up to the door the restaurant and he burst out and gave me a big hug indicated he was just as excited to see me. David look good and he said I look good as well so I don't know if that's just too old guys saying each other looks good to keep each other going who knows? They've indicates he's been going through a lot of physical challenges of late significant to aging. I let him know that I too am struggling trying to come out on top of all the issues of Aging that I'm dealing with as well. We had lunch and we talked and we talked finally agreeing to meet again in December or monthly from now on till one of us perishes. I get it this sounds grim but both of us know where we're at in the lifeline and realize that our number may be harvested at any moment. We finished our lunches but continued to visit until you get that feeling that it's time to hang it up time to go on with your life and leave this reunion in the past. We didn't do dessert it's just something that real men don't do. The most dessert like thing we achieved was having coffee. I must have had two refills on my coffee in the time that we are at the table. I was drinking my coffee black trying to mimic adults I have noticed. I guess I could have added something to the coffee creamer or and fake sugar. Just something that real men don't do and I'm trying to be real..
