Melissa my caregiver actually spent time this taping up my foot pedals on my power chair. The the foot pedals are foot box has a . separation in the middle and my feet have been falling through there when I'm trying to disrobe in the evening before I get ready for bed and my clothes have been hanging up on them leading to disastrous results as far as trying to get them clear and destroying them in the process. It is hoped by strapping the pedals together will relieve that problem we'll see this evening. I guess what I'm saying as well is that I'm just trying to survive in this power chair and it's the only power chair I have at this point in time. The good news is that I've been notified that my Sunday sources have agreed to pay the $3,000 for the repair of my regular chair. Now they just have to get the parts in and who knows how long that's going to take. I hope it won't take much longer than a week cuz I just don't know how long this chair I'm in now is going to last me. I've gotten by with the side of the chair that's broke that had my brother in my apartment trying to fix it yesterday but to no avail. I can get around very difficult not dangerous yet anyway I don't think it will be. It seems like each day is a different challenge. Now it's basically just dressing and getting the pants on over my butt trying to sit down and push back at the same time high enough that the shorts will go out over my hips. It's pretty much a function of time but I've got to give myself at least 3 hours before I front schedule any type of meeting or anything. Like Sunday mornings are a challenge just because we have breakfast at 8:00 that means I'm up early doing the self-dressing. And once again I am imagining this is all going to cease once I get my regular chair back let's hope for the best. I'm having to be very careful with this chair right now because if I lose one piece on this chair that I use everyday I don't know what I would do not having access to another chair immediately. I can only hope that everything works out well and be very careful and gentle to how I treat this old war horse.
Oh I almost forgot also about this chair is that the battery pretty well worn out at least that's my perception. All I know is that on a full charge the charge indicator seems to just drain when I go anywhere. I didn't go in for today just because it's been really cold outside and I just didn't want to have to deal with the cold right now. However, I did want to get across the street and get some change in case somebody comes in that I need to pay to clean up the apartment. Have one person that comes in and I like to have a couple twenties and $10 bills available to give her when she cleans up. But I'm a little afraid to go anywhere because I don't want to get stranded. I might be a little paranoid right now but that's as far as I want to extend my risk as far as this power chair goes. Boy do I sound like a whiner or what?
