Thriving On Thursday

Step by step… This is a phrase from one of those great kid activities down on sleepovers and sleep outs about scary person behind you but for me the scariness involves process of getting my new power chair. I followed up today with my durable medical provider to see what the process would be to acquire a set of batteries for my power chair. First, they do have the report from my recent medical tele-visit and now I have to give the appointment with my occupational therapist who is the sitting specialist who writes the prescription for the chair that I need. In the meantime I've chosen to see if my insurance will cover another set of batteries (almost $500) but this will not be process of getting another chair back six months. I figure it's worthwhile. My power chair is missing the okay now if I have the batteries that get me by so I would be ordering my chair if all goes well sometime in June. Since Covid 19 is still rampant I doubt I'll need any long-distance travels anyway. But I do need to batteries.

I can only go about two and a half miles on new charge of my chair. Today, I needed to complete two items for Christmas. I needed to go to my credit union and get some Christmas gift cards and then get to a working McDonald's to get a number of gift cards there as well. Items I can stuff in a Christmas card and hopefully have some sort of Christmas impact on the receiver. Today like many of the other days so far this season there's been no precipitation so cold but clear and with the sunshine very nice to be out in. I was pleased at how easily I made progress to the credit union picked up the items there I needed and had stopped the market on way back to pick up bananas for my neighbor. I could see the power indicator sliding down on my controller/stopped in at the apartment and connected to the charger for about two hours before taking off again for McDonald's which is just five or six blocks south of my apartment complex. Two hours was just enough to give the chair enough spritely behavior to zoom here and there and get over to McDonald's which of course does not have in-house services right now so there I am actually going through the line of cars. Evening was quickly coming on but I still had the light and it wasn't too cold at this point however, I knew I need to make tracks quickly goes when the sun went down I really begin to feel the cold temperatures. I was kind surprised that they served me as well as they did not having a car and going to the drive-through in my power chair. They even process by gift card request without blinking so I bought the special deal but one item on the menu get together for a dollar that was a deal for sure. I got the fish fillet and the big Mac. Big Mac output in the refrigerator to have at some point in the next couple of days.

I got home just as the sun was setting. It was good to feel the warmth of the apartment in all manners of the word and the feeling that at accomplished major portion of my Christmas giving for this year.
