Mother's Day Melt Down

Mother's Day Saturday Posted by Hello
My mom had a small stroke on Thursday, so small in fact, that she was able to go home later in the afternoon. She lost sensation mobility in her left arm for a while but everything came back and the sent her home. The physician even did the CAT scan of her brain and was shocked to find the brain had not shrunk as he had expected a 93 y.o.'s brain to be. This is a good sign the doc said. In fact mom drove her self to the Senior Citizen lunch the next day. So mom is definitely going to be round for Mother's Day weekend. I knew better get to see her one way or the other because I don't know if she is going to make to June when the family reunion is forecast to be.
I called early this morning and Mark indicated he would be able to go with me if the timing was right. This is important because I have to get a way into the house if we do not go out to eat some where. Next, I called Mom to see how her day was progressing. She sounded tired and a little withdrawn indicating she did not feel too well. Mom was up though in the kitchen with her sister and brother in law. I already knew mom had plans on going out to lunch with my Brother, Carl and I was not sure how to invite my extended family group along with my brother's family and mom. It not take much. I actually think Mom felt a little uncomfortable with me coming along but I'll never know—when you are the family crip you can get away with a lot. This all sounds pretty trivial but putting it all together was stressful beyond recount.
Lunch was to be at Up-chuck a rama at 1:30—in Provo. Small university town 45 minutes South of Salt Lake. Most of this drive time is Interstate driving so it's not too bad. I of course was late leaving not even picking Mark and Jazzy up till 1:00. They were ready and after some infusing of Jazzy's equipment into the van we were off. From that point on things went smoothly. The baby conked out as soon as we hit the interstate and slept all the way to Provo and halfway through dinner, even after waking she was good—did not want anything to eat not even the deserts. Mark did a great job of keeping Jazzy entertained and soon the event was complete.
So, it was a guy day-Mark and I and Jazz we touched the bases, weathered near melt down but we made it.
