My Buddy Josh
Mr 211
presentation
(The bottom image is me giving the presentation)
This is my buddy Josh. He is the director of 211 located at the Community Services Council. 211 is a information and referral(I&R) line for our county. 211 is a real I&R as apposed to Access Utah. Josh's line does about 60,000 calls a year we'll be doing well to break a few thousand this year. I am going to change that but I need Josh to show me the way. He is good. If we were gun slingers I would be dead in the street. I would have lines traced round my body and Josh would be headed for the “slammer”. Thank goodness we are not gunslingers, still I learn from Josh each time I am around him. Like today, Josh, actually it was Chuck (this is another story in it self), invited me over to 211 to address some of his new talent: neophyte information gunslingers. To apprise them of Access Utah and the niche we fill in the local I&R market. I thought this was very cool, not only was this a real training experience for his people but sprung me from my office on a Friday, a short Friday too since I bailed at 1:00. The only problem is I was less then professional-- I probably would have been more pro if Josh had not worn his “Friday” Zwieback shirt. So, I basically told the group about Access Utah and the service we provide but I had a great time doing this. The only way I made it through the event was that Kieth was sitting not far from me looking like NEO from the Matrix ad kept intimidating me back to reality.
Cecilia asked that I have a couple of picture taken for the annual report. And one of their staff is a budding image pro and she did the pics. Josh showed me it's ok to loosen up—smile and laugh a little, you know have a Food Bank cookie—life's short “He with the most crumbs wins” Josh is going to win...he's got all the cookies in the food bank.
