Senior Movie Day… What If

Sometimes I get just a little bit paranoid – – the committed reader knows that of course – – I just don't know what to think anymore in these weird times. With all the talk about how badly the US and the world is because of the Covid virus (and to a large extent global warming and sometimes I wonder if they're not one in the same). These two events have gotten the world at least the humanoid part of the world in a hammerlock and just won't let go. There's been a lot of talk, which I find particularly interesting, about how the Earth is actually just trying to save itself from its virus which are we humans. This idea was sort of danced around a little bit in the Matrix movies. This is when agent Smith gives his little soliloquy about how the humans are the virus which need to be taken out. And there's no question we (humans) certainly fit that paradigm.

There's a movie out right now that I thought about taking in. It looks kind of interesting. I ran across the previews when I went to the movie a couple weeks ago Tenant…Something about Copperfield David Copperfield. To me the movie looks interesting. I'm hoping it's one of those sleepers that turns out to be a great flick. Was really quite surprised later on that week, when checking my mail I saw a advertisement for a “free senior viewing” of this very movie at my very Regal theaters Just down the street. Whoever is offering these viewings as done it once before that I'm aware of. I have yet to take advantage of this opportunity. I of course spaced the whole thing and noticed the day after the event was to have taken place. I'm not really heard any of the other folks here at the apartment complex talking about having gone to the freebie. Maybe a just smarter than the average bears.

Now this is where my paranoia begins to rear its ugly head when I start bringing these two concepts together. The Covid virus and the isolation of just about everybody in the world (seriously) and this movie deal and the US debt and Social Security etc. One of the major points of the Covid virus is that it tends to target seniors and people with disabilities. I am both. Not only Do I fit those two categories I am also a retired state worker who earned a pension, which I get every month. Would it just be too strange if following one of these free movies that however many seniors attended comes down with the virus and most likely dies. Would that be not just too convenient for at least part of the trauma the US government finds itself in right now? I remember something that the Nazi overlords told the train loads of Jews coming into the concentration camps they're going to get a great shower and of course you know what happened next. How many turns of imagination does it take to extrapolate a similar scenario of bunching a bunch of seniors together for free movie, ocean cruise or bus trips to the casinos and along the way be gassed with coronavirus. I know this is ludicrous – – and this could never happen – – especially the United States of America but then again I would never expected the current administration to be where it's at today and do what it's doing today. Perhaps mother Earth is being harsh sometimes tough love is what it takes…
